Katt Micah Williams (born September 2, 1975) is an American comedian, rapper, and actor

Personal life

Williams was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is the son of a former member of the Black Panther Party. Williams was raised in Dayton, OH. Katt told his parents he was going to emulate his idols such as Bill Cosby, Darnell Allen and Richard Pryor by becoming a comedian. He emancipated himself and left home at 13 and moved to Florida with his dog, Rasha, and became a street vendor. In his teen years he crafted his art on the stand-up circuits of Florida, North Carolina, Oklahoma, New Orleans, Sacramento amongst other places. He has 7 children, including 6 who are adopted.

Career

Williams's big break came in the summer of 1999 when he won Cedric The Entertainer’s Anheuser-Busch "Best Los Angeles Comics" Award. This propelled Katt into the role of 'Money Mike' in 2002's Friday After Next (a character he went on to play at the start of Lil Kim's video for 'Lighters Up' in 2005).

Later in 2001, for the Montreal Comedy Festival and was chosen as one of the 'New Faces'. Before he stepped foot on stage in Canada, he landed an overall deal with NBC Studios and D(dot)nell Productions. In October 2002, he auditioned at Twentieth Century Fox for NYPD Blue and was immediately offered the role. In April 2003, he starred in the Tracy Morgan Pilot for NBC which was picked up for mid-season on NBC, but eventually got cancelled. In the Boondocks' episode "Guess Hoe's Coming to Dinner" he voices "A Pimp Named Slickback" (who gets easily irritated when someone calls him "Slickback" for short, demanding to be addressed by his complete self-professed name: "It's like 'A Tribe Called Quest' — you say the whole thing." which is modeled after his character "Money Mike" in Friday After Next. He has also made appearances in sitcoms such as, My Wife and Kids and Cuts. He is also a regular guest on Nick Cannon's Wild 'N Out.

Further, in 2003, he appeared in Nick Cannon’s 'Gigolo', E40’s 'One Night Stand,' Ludacris’s 'Stand-up' and in 2004, Outkast’s, 'Roses,' Suga Free’s 'Thinkin,' and Ludacris’s 'Pimpin All Over The World.' Recent music videos he has appeared in include Lil' Kim's 'Lighter's Up', Paul Wall's 'Girl', E40’s 'U and Dat, Suga Free's "Thinkin'", Nick Cannon's 'Dime Piece' , Ice Cube's 'Go To Church" ,and Lil Scrappy's 'Money in da Bank'. Williams has also been present in the music industry. He rapped on The Game's mix tape Ghost Unit, where he and The Game dissed the Young Gunz after they claimed he was a "fake ass pimp". He also rapped with Chamillionaire on his album Mixtape Messiah in the song "Roll Call" where they dissed Mike Jones. He has also rapped with Snoop Dogg who appears in his HBO Stand-Up "The Pimp Chronicles" and the single is played throughout the movie.

Williams is often distinguished as part of the audience and as a performer at the Laugh Factory, located on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, California. He has also performed on BET's Comic View, and Def Comedy Jam. He was recently signed to Dipset, a rap group led by Cam'Ron under Warner Music, going by his commonly known name "Money Mike."

In 2006, Williams starred on his own new stand-up HBO show: The Pimp Chronicles Pt. 1. He is also putting the finishing touches on his innovative album, It's Pimpin', Pimpin', which will be distributed through Cam'Ron's Diplomat Records. It's rumored that the first single will be Mind Right featuring Snoop Dogg

He also recently hosted BET's first ever Hip-Hop Awards show on Wednesday November 15, 2006. Katt Williams appeared on the Howard Stern show, on November 30, 2006, an appearance he considers the high point of his career. He also appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
