Emraan Hashmi (born as Emran Anwar Hashmi on 23 March 1979 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India) is an Indian actor.

Early life

His birth name is Emran Anwar Hashmi, he is born to a Muslim father and Catholic mother. He later changed it to Farhaan Hashmi but recently decided to keep his original name but added an extra "a" as per numerology. He graduated from Sydenham in Mumbai where he majored graphics and animations. He is the nephew of Mahesh Bhatt and is the cousin of the actress turned director Pooja Bhatt. He got married to fiancée Parveen Shahani at an elaborate ceremony on Thursday, December 14th, 2005. The reception, was held at a plush hotel in Bandra, Mumbai, and was limited to the family members and close friends of the actor.

Career

Hashmi made his debut in 2003 with the film Footpath however, it did not do well at the box office. He shot to fame with Murder (2004) which was his first hit. His next few films such as Zeher (2005), Kalyug (2005) and Gangster (2006) have done well at the box office and the soundtracks in these respective films have helped create a large fan base. Amusingly, all the songs from his movies have become instant hits. The playback singers for most of his film's songs has been Himesh Reshamiya and Atif Aslam.

Emraan is also famous for his kissing scenes in most of his movies. He has been nicknamed the 'serial kisser'. Emraan also described his first on screen kiss during an interview claiming that he was very nervous and almost opted out of the scene before going ahead and shooting it with the female co-star.

Personal life

Emraan got married to long time sweetheart Parveen Sahani on December 14, 2006. He was in love with her since college life and had a really controversial life with her. Emraan also has a cousin, Zubair A. Hashmi, who is making appearances in the bollywood film industry. Currently Zubair is a Surgeon in USA.
