Donal Francis Logue (born February 27, 1965 or 1966) is a Canadian actor.
Early life
Logue was born in Ottawa, Ontario. His father was once a Roman Catholic priest, but left the priesthood and eventually got married and had four children. He has three sisters: Karina, an actress, his twin sister Deirdre (who is not in show business), and Eileen, an education consultant. Logue lived most of his childhood and teen years in El Centro, California where he attended Central Union High School. There, he became ASB President and graduated with the class of 1984. After High School, Logue studied History at Harvard University. His mother was a teacher at Calexico High School in Calexico, California during the 1980's and 1990's. He travels back and forth to Killarney, Co. Kerry, Ireland, where his mother lives, and holds both Irish and Canadian citizenship.
Career
Aside from a few TV movies, Logue's first film appearance was playing Dr. Gunter Janek in the 1992 film Sneakers. Logue's character Jimmy the cab driver was a staple of MTV promos in the early 90s. With more than 40 other movies to his credit, some of his more significant appearances include Quinn from the 1998 film Blade, the staring role in The Tao of Steve and The Patriot with Mel Gibson, both in 2000. Following his appearance in The Tao of Steve, Logue was noticed by ER producer John Wells. Logue landed the part of Chuck Brown, the man that Susan Lewis marries one weekend in Las Vegas on a whim. Logue was scheduled to appear in three episodes at the conclusion of season 9 and returns in season 10, in three more episodes. He has also appeared as Mark Ruffalo's psychiatrist best friend in Just Like Heaven (2005).
Logue had appeared as Phil Stubbs in the original pilot for the NBC show Ed but was cast as the father on the television series Grounded for Life and had to drop out. The first two and a half seasons were on the Fox network, though the show moved to The WB for the remainder of its run. In 2002 and 2003, Logue appeared on the VH1 series I Love the '80s, I Love the '70s, and I Love the '80s Strikes Back.
As of March 2005, Logue has been attached to NBC's The Dennis, a pilot about a former child prodigy whose parents kick him out of the house and into the real world.
As of April 2005, Logue has been attached to a pilot development deal for a new situation comedy on ABC television, originally titled I Want to Rob Mick Jagger. Jagger, of The Rolling Stones, is in talks to participate as well. The title of the sitcom reportedly reflects the central plot device of the pilot, and of the subsequent series. The pilot has since been picked up, and debuted in the winter of 2006 under the name The Knights of Prosperity. Logue co-stars Nicolas Cage in the movie Ghost Rider, Logue's second appearance in a Marvel Comics film.
